Daniel J. Grimm is Senior Counsel to the Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. In his role, he provides legal and policy advice to Chairman Heath Tarbert on a wide variety of matters before the Commission.
Mr. Grimm previously served as a Senior Trial Attorney and Trial Attorney at the CFTC, where he developed an accomplished track record of uncovering and charging individuals and entities with violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC rules. His enforcement record contains major multi-million-dollar judgments in cases involving fraud, registration violations, misappropriation, and other wrongdoing.
Prior to joining the CFTC, Mr. Grimm practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP from 2007 to 2015. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center.
