CFTC CANCELS OPEN MEETING SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 29, 2000

Washington--The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced today that it has canceled the open meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, 2000, on proposed regulation 1.41(z), which would permit exchanges to adopt certain rules without prior Commission approval. This action was based on requests from several major agricultural producer organizations and a letter from three exchanges stating that they would not object if the Commission delayed consideration of proposed rule 1.41(z).

The Commission anticipates that proposed regulation 1.41(z) will be addressed as part of the proposed new regulatory framework currently being drafted by Commission staff.
