CFTC’s Global Markets Advisory Committee
to Meet on August 1, 2001

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC), chaired by CFTC Commissioner Barbara P. Holum, will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, August 1, 2001, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Commission’s Washington, D.C. headquarters, in the first floor hearing room (Room 1000), Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21^st Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20581.

The following topics will be discussed at the GMAC meeting:

• Overview of CFTC Rules to Implement the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA)
• Update of Recent Developments in Electronic Derivative Trading
• Discussion of Security Futures Products under the CMFA
• Discussion of Cross-Border Market Access to Domestic and Foreign Investors
• Presentation on the Regulators Information Alert System
• Update of the Activities of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

The GMAC was created by the CFTC for the purpose of advising the Commission on issues concerning the competitiveness of U.S. markets and U.S. firms engaged in global business. The membership of the GMAC consists of individuals representing industry professionals, futures exchanges and market users.
