CFTC TO HOLD OPEN MEETING TO DISCUSS ISSUES
RELATED TO SECURITY FUTURES PRODUCTS INCLUDING
CUSTOMER MARGIN RULES

Washington, D.C. -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold an open meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, to discuss matters related to security futures products. The meeting will take place at the Commission’s Washington, D.C. headquarters, Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21^st Street, N.W., in the first-floor hearing room. The matters to be considered include:

• Customer margin rules;
• The applicability of CFTC and Securities & Exchange Commission customer protection, recordkeeping, reporting, and bankruptcy rules; and
• The applicability of the Securities Investor Protection Act of 1970 to accounts holding security futures products.
