Release: #4931-04 CFTC EXTENDS COMMENT PERIOD ON HOW SELF-REGULATORY EXAMS OF FUTURES FIRMS ARE COORDINATED The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) today extended until June 18, 2004, the comment period on how self-regulatory organization (SRO) exams of futures commission merchants (FCMs) are coordinated. On April 12, 2004, the Commission published in the Federal Register a Request for Comment (Notice) on proposed amendments to a cooperative agreement among various futures SROs regarding the examination of FCMs. The Notice is part of the Commission's ongoing review of the self-regulatory system for futures markets. The comment period for the Notice expires on May 27, 2004. Interested parties have requested that the comment period be extended. In response to this request, and in order to ensure that an adequate opportunity is provided for submission of meaningful comments, the Commission has determined to extend the comment period until June 18, 2004. Comments may be submitted electronically at [email protected]. All comments will be promptly posted on the Commission's website (http://www.cftc.gov/foia/comment04/foi04--003_1.htm).
