Advisory Committee on CFTC-State Cooperation
The Advisory Committee on CFTC-State Cooperation, chaired by Commissioner Barbara P. Holum, will hold its 22nd meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 1996, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The half-day meeting will be held at the CFTC's Washington headquarters, Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21st Street, N.W., in the first floor hearing room, Room 1000.
The meeting will focus on technology issues and the challenges they pose to enforcement of the Commodity Exchange Act. Several CFTC staff members, including Geoffrey Aronow, the Agency's Director of Enforcement, will make presentations. Specific topics to be discussed include the use of the internet, telemarketing scams, and the use of audit trail for trade reconstruction. Additionally, industry representatives will discuss the role that technology currently plays in the futures markets as well as its future potential.
The Advisory Committee on CFTC-State Cooperation was organized for the purpose of receiving advice and recommendations on matters of joint concern to the states and the Commission arising under the Commodity Exchange Act.
