CFTC APPROVES CME's DOW JONES TAIWAN STOCK INDEX
FUTURES AND OPTION CONTRACTS
WASHINGTON -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that on November 26, 1996, it approved the applications of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) for designation as a contract market in Dow Jones Taiwan Stock Index futures and futures option contracts.
According to the CME, Dow Jones and Co., Inc., developed the Dow Jones Taiwan Stock Index to be representative of the market for Taiwan stocks that are readily accessible to investors worldwide. The index is a capitalization based index of 113 highly capitalized and actively traded stocks listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
