CFTC Announces Public Meeting of the Technology Advisory Committee

Full Committee to Focus on Updates from the Subcommittee on Automated and High Frequency Trading, Discussion of Industry-Lead Effort to Improve Customer Protections and New Technological Requirements Imposed by Part 1 of the Commission’s Regulations

Washington, DC – The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announces that on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee (the “TAC” or “Committee”) will hold a public meeting at the Hilton Chicago, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The meeting will focus on three significant issues facing the futures and swaps industries as the Commission continues to finalize rules under the Dodd-Frank Act. These issues are: (1) automated and high frequency trading (HFT); (2) the implementation of an automated technological solution to protect customer funds; and (3) Implementation of §§ 1.73 & 1.74 of the Commission’s Regulations: Technological challenges and possible Commission waivers.

The TAC meeting is open to the public with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Audio of the meeting will be available via listen-only conference call. Additionally, a transcript of the meeting will be published through a link on the CFTC’s website.

All written submissions provided to the CFTC in any form will also be published on the website of the CFTC
