CFTC Announces Agenda for the Upcoming Public Meeting of the Technology Advisory Committee
Washington, DC — The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the full agenda for the upcoming CFTC Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) public meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the CFTC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information regarding the meeting, view CFTC Press Release 6928-14.
Panel I will focus on high-frequency trading. The witnesses will respond to the charges in Michael Lewis’s book Flash Boys from a derivatives market perspective. There will be an in-depth discussion of data feeds, co-location, direct market access, market maker programs, order cancellation policies, among other issues.
Panel II will focus on the CFTC’s surveillance program. The witnesses will provide their suggestions on how the CFTC should develop a twenty-first century surveillance program for today’s highly automated markets.
Panel III will focus on swap execution facilities. The witnesses will discuss any remaining obstacles for the buy side to actively trade on SEFs and offer potential solutions. The panel will also discuss any other SEF issues.
