CFTC Announces Agenda for the Upcoming Public Meeting of the Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee
Washington, DC — The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC or Commission) announced today the full agenda for the upcoming CFTC Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee (EEMAC) public meeting. The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Commission’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information regarding the meeting, view CFTC Press Release 7121-15.
“Congress created the EEMAC as part of the Dodd-Frank Act because it recognized the critical need for a forum in which exchanges, energy firms, end users and regulators could advise the Commission of their concerns about regulations impacting the energy and environmental markets,” said Commissioner J. Christopher Giancarlo, sponsor of the EEMAC. “The EEMAC’s first meeting in over five years will examine what impact the Commission’s proposed position limits and aggregation rulemakings will have on the ability of energy firms, utilities and producers to protect against fluctuations in the price of electricity, winter heating oil, gasoline, natural gas and other commodities used every day by millions of American consumers,” Giancarlo added.
