CFTC Hosts Academic Visitors from the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces, MS Degree Financial Services Study Group

The CFTC's Office of External Affairs hosted an academic visit of faculty and students from the National Defense University's (NDU) Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) Financial Services Industry Study Group on March 6, 2008. The NDU-ICAF Financial Services Study Group is comprised of senior-level members of the federal government completing the ICAF's Master of Science (MS) Degree in National Resource Strategy. The NDU was established in 1924 and is the premier center for joint professional military education. The ICAF curriculum emphasizes strategy, leadership, management, and economics.  

Participating in the CFTC briefing session were CFTC Acting Chairman Walter Lukken; Ananda Radhakrishnan, Director, Division of Clearing & Intermediary Oversight; Chul Woo Park, Industry Economist, Division of Market Oversight; Phyllis Cela, Chief Counsel, Division of Enforcement; Jacqueline Hamra Mesa, Director, Office of International Affairs; and Douglass Leslie, Senior Counsel, Office of External Affairs.

Ananda Radhakrishnan, Director, Division of Clearing & Intermediary Oversight, discusses the commodity futures markets.


Phyllis Cela, Chief Counsel, Division of Enforcement, provides an overview of the CFTC’s enforcement program.


Jacqueline Hamra Mesa, Director, Office of International Affairs discusses global cooperation.
