Agricultural Advisory Committee Meeting, December 6, 2007

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will convene a meeting on December 6, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., of the Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC). The meeting will be conducted by CFTC Commissioner Michael V. Dunn, who serves as Chairman of the Committee.

The meeting will commence with a presentation by Dr. Michael Gorham of the Illinois Institute of Technology, concerning “Changes in Price Discovery and Market Structure,” followed by panel discussions of the “Role of Speculation in Agricultural Futures Markets” and the “Role of Agricultural OTC Markets.” The meeting will conclude with a discussion of “Global Carbon Markets” featuring Dr. Richard Sandor of the Chicago Climate Exchange.

The hearing is open to the public. Audio of the hearing will be available via a listen-only conference call.

The AAC was created to advise the Commission on issues relating to the trading of agricultural commodity futures and options, and to serve as a communications link between the Commission and the agricultural community. The Committee’s membership includes, among others, representatives of national farm organizations, major commodity groups, agribusiness concerns, and agricultural bankers.
