Global Markets Advisory Committee Meeting December 9, 1998

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC), chaired by CFTC Commissioner Barbara P. Holum, will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, December 9, 1998, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Commission's Washington, D.C. headquarters, in the first floor hearing room (Room 1000), Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21st Street, N.W., Washington, D.C., 20581.

During the GMAC meeting, three separate working groups will be reporting on several topics relating to the regulation of global business. The topics to be addressed include:

  • Impediments to Cross Border Business;
  • Initiatives of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO); and
  • Placement of Electronic Trading Terminals.

The GMAC was created by the CFTC for the purpose of advising the Commission on issues concerning the competitiveness of U.S. markets and U.S. firms engaged in global business. The membership of the GMAC consists of 31 individuals representing industry professionals, futures exchanges and market users.
