CFTC Chairman Massad Announces the Appointment of Eileen T. Flaherty as Director of the Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight
Washington, DC — U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Timothy Massad today named Eileen T. Flaherty as the agency’s Director of the Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight. Ms. Flaherty has more than 25 years of direct experience in the financial services industry.
“I am very pleased Eileen will be joining the CFTC and will be leading this important division as we fully implement the new regulatory framework for swaps,” said Chairman Massad. “Eileen’s years of experience and her depth of knowledge of our markets will add significantly to the talented and hardworking staff of the division and agency.”
Ms. Flaherty has been involved in key roles in the industry for more than two decades. She has served as the Global Head of Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention for Newedge in addition to being the Americas General Counsel. Previously, she served in senior legal and compliance positions with Fimat, Aubrey G. Lanston & Co. Inc., DRW Holdings, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the National Futures Association.

Ms. Flaherty graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law with high honors and graduated from Loras College Magna Cum Laude.
