CFTC Vacates DCO Registration of CME Clearing Europe
Washington, DC — At the request of CME Clearing Europe Ltd. (CMECE), the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued an order today that vacates the registration of CMECE as a derivatives clearing organization (DCO) effective August 8, 2017.
The CFTC registered CMECE as a DCO by order dated November 29, 2016. On May 10, 2017, CMECE requested that the CFTC vacate its registration.
Under Section 7 of the Commodity Exchange Act, any registered entity may have its registration vacated. With CMECE’s vacation of its registration order, there are now 16 DCOs that are registered with the CFTC, including six that are based outside of the United States.
