Chairman Behnam Announces Agenda for July 19 Agricultural Advisory Committee Meeting

July 18, 2023

— Chairman Rostin Behnam, sponsor of the Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC), today provided further insight on planned discussion topics for the upcoming AAC meeting. The public meeting will be held on July 19, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. (EDT) at the CFTC’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.  Members of the public will also have the option to attend virtually.

“As highlighted by recent geopolitical events, food insecurity remains a risk to millions globally. Fragile connections and relationships throughout the agricultural supply chains accentuate the value proposition of the derivatives markets to its participants globally. Focusing on the U.S. markets, at Wednesday’s meeting, the AAC will address issues related to improving the access to futures markets for all market participants, including farmers, ranchers, and end-users. The AAC will also discuss recent disruptions to the flow of the Mississippi River, and how the use of data analytics can be used to identify and mitigate the impact of these disruptions to logistics, delivery costs, and ultimately, the futures markets,” said Chairman Behnam.”
