Statement of Commissioner Bowen on Dan Roth’s Departure from the National Futures Association
May 23, 2016
I congratulate Dan on his long and fruitful career at the National Futures Association (NFA). Dan and I started our careers in finance around the same time – he in 1983 as an attorney at NFA, and me in 1982 as a lawyer in a Wall Street firm. Needless to say, we have seen many financial ups and downs during this time, and Dan has been working with NFA to protect the markets during a variety of major events, including the 2008 financial crisis.
I truly congratulate Dan on his commitment to NFA. The success and vitality of the self-regulatory model is evidenced by own his rise from attorney, to Assistant General Counsel, to Chief Operating Officer, and finally to President and Chief Executive Officer in 2002. I hope Dan now gets some well-deserved rest, and I wish him the best of luck on his next great adventure.
