June 21, 2018

Washington, DC – CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo issued the following statement regarding the agency’s FY 2019 funding request:

“I am grateful for the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee’s recognition and full support of the CFTC's FY 2019 funding request.  This funding level will enable us to meet the regulatory demands of our 21st century digital markets, while also being fiscally accountable and transparent to the American taxpayer.  The Committee’s funding bill recognizes the need for our skilled regulatory oversight which balances market health and safety of the world's premier price discovery and risk hedging markets for global commodities and financial instruments.‎  U.S. markets must remain the envy of the world in order to continue to promote job growth and economic prosperity.  Full funding of the CFTC’s budget request enables us to fulfill the mission.”
