Clearing Requirement
In 2012, the Commission issued final rules to implement the clearing requirement determination under section 723 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
The final rules require certain classes of credit default swaps and interest rate swaps to be cleared by DCOs registered with the Commission.
In 2016, the Commission issued a notice of proposed rulemaking that would require additional interest rate swaps to be cleared by DCOs registered with the Commission.
